3rd October 2021 North Shields & Blyth – Queen Elizabeth & Finding Rainbird

The cruise ship Queen Elizabeth was in dock at the Royal Quays today so we set off to take a look. She is a magnificent vessel, and I got then best pictures I could given the sun was low in the sky behind the vessel.

You may remember we went searching for the grave of artist Victor Noble Rainbird in Preston Cemetery back in July, but the weather was poor and we eventually gave up (read here). Well, this time we managed to find it. Catching the early autumn sun, it stood there in silence, a fitting monument to a great painter. I will return and leave some flowers for Victor.

Up to Blyth for lunch. A supply vessel was just entering the river so got some nice shots, but not much more going in.
