27th June 2023 Nuremberg – An Old City Sympathetically Restored

Like many major towns and cities, Nuremberg was largely flattened by bombing during WWII. Luckily, many old buildings have been sympathetically restored, giving back some of the old-world charm.

The coach parked next to the castle, and we walked down into the town in the sweltering heat.

We hid in the shade of Dürer’s statue to have our packed lunch (I hadn’t realised he was born and lived most of his life here).

After exploring the market place and some of the streets, we of course gravitated to the river. You can always find peace near water, and Nuremberg was no exception!
