21st August 2022 South Shields – Sunny South of the River

Didn’t feel like a drive today so we set off over the river on the Shields Ferry to South Shields. This time we decide to walk along the pier, which is significantly longer than its Tynemouth counterpart.

Lots of sailing ships out today on the Tyne as there was a fairly strong wind blowing. Some nice shops of both lighthouses.

As we walked back a (I think) a sparrowhawk flew over with prey in its talons. Looked like a chick. Of course I didn’t get that good close-up as I’m never quick enough.

A walk through the park (South Marine) where the miniature railway was running as it does throughout the summer, although quiet for this time of year.
