We hadn’t been to Woodhorn since last year’s classic car show.
Whilst I enjoyed the car show, I really wanted to see the Ashington Group gallery, aka the Pitman Painters.
Sometimes naive but always touching, it is an amazing collection, a snapshot of 20th century life in the mining community. Being from a mining village myself, I could really relate to the images.
We took a longer look around the site too, so glad this place has been preserved so all can see what a coal mine was all about.
A short stop off at Blyth finished a lovely day.
