Oratorio di San Secondo detto “dei neri”

The oratory of San Secondo called “dei Neri” is a Catholic place of worship located in the municipality of Ventimiglia, in via Giuseppe Garibaldi, in the province of Imperia

Also known by the name of oratory “dei” Neri “, from the color of the hood worn by the brothers of the Misericordia, it was built at the behest of the latter in the course of 1650 after the bequest of the local nobleman Antonio Porro.

Of Baroque architecture, the interiors were frescoed and decorated by the painters Serra, with the depiction of the Old Testament, and Maurizio Carrega (Miracles of the Resurrection of Christ, dated between 1784 and 1786).

By the master Giacinto Aycardo it is the only high altar in black and white marble dating back to 1678.

The oratory was recently restored with the reopening to religious worship in 2011.
