The statue depicts Benitez standing upright, his two hands on the hilt of a sword resting on the ground. The statue sits upon a pedestal with relief inscribed with the action that lead to his posthumously awarding of the Cross Laureate of San Fernando posthumously, which also appears in relief on the pedestal.
