Marble bust of a woman by Jean-Jacques Flatters at the Bowes Museum, Co. Durham.
French Empire white marble bust of a woman on grey marble socle. The long hair is drawn back in a smooth chignon confined by a narrow braid. The hair on top of the head is tightly curled and falls in a triangle to ear-lobe level on each side of the face. The bust is draped and the thin material gathered into three buttons on each shoulder. A ribbon runs just under the bust-line. Size: Height: 76 cm Width: 50 cm
