Luitpold Karl Joseph Wilhelm Ludwig, Prince Regent of Bavaria (12 March 1821 – 12 December 1912), was the de facto ruler as regent of Bavaria from 1886 to 1912. His regency arose from the incapacity due to mental illness of his nephews, King Ludwig II and King Otto.
