Inverness Victorian Market

The Victorian Market, Inverness.

The original market was built by the town council of the Royal Burgh of Inverness in 1870.

In 1889 this gas lit market was destroyed by fire. The only life lost was a faithful dog which refused to leave the shop it guarded.

The market was rebuilt in 1890-91, the market hall and fish market being added with a new access from Church Street.
