lmer’s Great North Parade is organised by and raising vital funds for St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice, a charity providing care, love and support to babies, children and young adults with complex needs.

For 11 weeks, 50 big and 114 little individually painted elephant sculptures are taking over North East streets, parks and public buildings in the biggest and brightest art trail ever seen in the region.

Zeloot is a Dutch illustrator and image maker. As an editorial illustrator she works for a variety of international newspapers such as NYT, Die Zeit and Volkskrant. Her interests lie in creating meaningful and experimental images which often interpret texts and communicate ideas. Using bold and vibrant colour palettes, she also creates posters and merchandise for cultural events. Zeloot has exhibited her work internationally and is a published children’s picture book illustrator. ‘Beyond the Sea’ showcases the colourful cultures, architecture and traditions that bring us together across the North Sea from Newcastle to Amsterdam. This elephant highlights places in the two cities which draw both tourists and locals alike, bringing different people from all walks of life together. The artist hopes that people try to spot places they’ve visited on holiday or places that are part of their everyday life.
