26th March 2022 Liverpool – What a Fantastic Surprise!

I must admit, I didn’t expect too much from Liverpool. I was here over 20 years ago for work and stayed overnight, seeing none of the tourist sites and plenty of the bits you don’t want to see.

Turned out to be an amazing city. The coach dropped us at the Royal Albert Dock. Obviously, I’d seen loads of this place on the TV, and apart from being very busy, it’s an enjoyable, vibrant place.

From here we walked to the Pier Head, where HMS Queen Elizabeth, one of our 2 very expensive aircraft carriers, was birthed.

The Three Graces really are a sight to behold, gems of architecture glittering in the spring sunshine.

We walked up past the town hall and had lunch watching the world go by.

The off to see the Cavern Club and the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals. We walked miles and still only saw a tiny fraction of the sights. We will be back again, I promise this!
