2nd April 2022 North Shields & Newcastle – A Day of Two Halves

The usual North Shields/Tynemouth circuit this morning.

Of interest were was the large number of birds we encountered. There were goldfinches on the feeders on Tyne Street, a regular sight at this time of year. In Northumberland Park there were stock doves, a chaffinch and a song thrush.

A strange sight on the way back along the river. Overhead there was a group of contrails streaking across the sky. Individual trails are not unusual, but a large group? It was worrying at first, given what is happening the Ukraine. Through the lens I could see that they weren’t missiles, but a group of 2 quad engined jets acompanied by 5 fighter jets. Where they were going, who knows?

In the evening I headed into Newcastle to see the long overdue Goldfrapp concert. Only the iPhone with me this time, but the weather had really changed and a beautiful sunshine bathed the Tyne. Sole lovely pictures of the bridges and The Sage.
