<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A figure of Hugh, the 3rd Duke of Northumberland, dressed in the robes of the Order of the Garter, on a tapered square pedestal on corniced plinth with sloped coping. Begun by C. Tate and completed by R. G. Davies. The Duke of Northumberland donated the ground upon which the Master Mariners&#8217; retirement homes were built.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Hugh Percy, 3rd Duke of Northumberland KG, PC (20 April 1785 – 11 February 1847), styled Earl Percy until 1817, was a British aristocrat and Tory politician who served as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland under the Duke of Wellington from 1829 to 1830.</p>
