Yarmouth Gribble Seat

The Gribble Seat at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.

The gribble seat was made in 2008 as part of the project to save Yarmouth Pier. It was created by local public artists Eccleston George using reclaimed materials like scrap metal, local newspapers, old bricks and paving slabs. If you pear into the gribble’s mouth you might even see a piece of the pier it has eaten. The ‘seats’ were specially created by local people leaving their bum prints in the wet cement.
