The King’s Pipe, Falmouth, is the local name for a furnace that was used for destroying tobacco that had been smuggled illegally into the country. It dates back to around 1814. The tobacco would have been seized by the Customs officers on behalf of the King. The furnace was within the courtyard walls of the Custom House.
