This pet’s gravestone was relocated here from the garden of a nearby house which like the Puritan Chapel once formed part of the grounds of the former Bramhope Hall. The gravestone reads as follows:

Marcus Nelson’s owner was probably Thomas Everard Upton, solicitor and one time Bramhope resident and landowner who was involved with the transfer of the Bramhope Hall estate to his associate Christopher Smith in 1792
