Forte San Nicolò

Fort San Nicolò is an Austro-Hungarian military fort, located on the shores of Lake Garda, in the province of Trento. The fort belongs to the “Fortezza Riva” of the “Subrayon III” of the great system of Austrian fortifications on the Italian border.

The fort had the dual function of road cutting, barring it with an iron gate, but also as a coastal battery.

It was equipped with powerful reflectors for patrolling the waters ahead.

The fort is located near Riva del Garda, on the slopes of Mount Brione. Today it is home to the “Lake Garda Study Center”.
