<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Stibnite, sometimes called antimonite, is a sulfide mineral, a mineral form of antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3). It is a soft, metallic grey crystalline solid with an orthorhombic space group. It is the most important source for the metalloid antimony. The name is derived from the Greek στίβι stibi through the Latin stibium as the former name for the mineral and the element antimony.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Scotch Koh-i-Noor at The Natural History Museum, South Kensington, London, England</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This colourless beryl has a peculiar history. In 1877, Nature magazine described it as the &#8216;Scotch Koh-i-Noor.<br>Despite claims it came from Scotland, no other similar specimens have ever been recorded as having a similar origin. <br>When or why it gained its Scottish origin story is unknown.<br>Perhaps this, along with its choice name, were ploys devised by its owner to add interest and grandeur to the remarkable gem.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gold specimens at The Natural History Museum, South Kensington, London, England</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is one of the best-formed specimens of crystallised gold in the world.<br>The size and definition of the crystals in this specimen are extremely rare for gold.<br>It was named after Charles Joseph La Trobe, Governor of Victoria in Australia, who was visiting the Mclvor mine when this specimen was unearthed. Many nuggets found during the early gold rushes in the rich goldfields of Victoria were melted down, but the quality and spectacle of this specimen ensured its survival.</p>
