Ernest Proctor (1885-1935)

Proctor was born in Tynemouth but moved to Cornwall in 1907.

He attended the Forbes School of painting in Newlyn where he met his wife, Dod Proctor (nee Shaw).

He went on to study in Paris with his wife. They returned to settle in Newlyn after the First World War and in 1920, proctor set up a painting school with a friend. In 1934 he was appointed Director of Studies in Design and Craft at Glasgow School of Art. He died suddenly in North Shields, possible while visiting relatives.
