HRH The Princess Louise (1848-1939) was the sixth child and fourth daughter of HM Queen Victoria and HRH Prince Albert. She married John, Marquess of Lorne (who in 1900 became the 9th Duke of Argyll) at Windsor Castle on 21 March 1871. Officers from the 91st Argyllshire Highlanders provided the Guard of Honour. On the amalgamation of The 91st Argyllshire Highlanders and The 93rd Sutherland Highlanders in 1881, she designed the cap badge of the new Regiment. She was appointed Colonel-in-Chief in 1914. She died at Kensington Palace on 3 December 1939 and at her funeral eight Argyll Non Commissioned Officers bore her coffin
