Watercolour on paper, Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan, 6th Bt (1797-1879) by William Bell Scott (Edinburgh 1811 – Penkill Castle, Strathclyde 1890), inscribed, on border of table cloth bottom left: SHOWC[?] [1]859 W85.8 and initialled and dated 1853. A half-length portrait of a man, seated and turned slightly to the right, holding an open book, depicted in the saloon at Wallington.
Provenance: Penkill Castle; originaly on loan from Sheila Pettit, and then given by her in 1981
