Willoughby Trevelyan

George Romney (1734 – 1802)

Oil painting on canvas, Willoughby Trevelyan (1767-1785) by George Romney (Dalton-in-Furness 1734 – Kendal 1802). A portrait of the son of Sir John Trevelyan, 4th Bt of Nettlecombe and Wallington; he died aged eighteen in Romney’s studio.

Provenance: Gift by Mr Raleigh Trevelyan of a group of five late-eighteenth-century portraits of members of the Trevelyan family and others related to them.
