Johanna Churchill is a portrait and documentary photography. Alongside her photographic career she worked as a part-time nurse in London for 12 years. Her practice often focuses on health care professionals in their downtime, examining the impact of care on the carer. Lucy, Nurse 2021 is one of a series of portraits she shot during the pandemic featuring her colleagues and showing the toll that their work took on them.

Johanna has returned to her roots in the North East, teaching at the University of Sunderland and undertaking photographic commissions, including work with NHS in the region.
