Kirton’s Quay from the Halfpenny Ferry Landing

Joseph Pinder Pearson d.1961

The Crown & Thistle Hotel (Wapping Street) can be seen at centre left. This hostelry is recorded in local trade directories from 1821, but may have been trading as earty as 1791. It would be near to where the South Shields Sea Cadets is today.
