Girl in a Red Hat on a Promenade

Laurence Stephen Lowry RBA RA (1887-1976)

“Girl in a Red Hat on a Promenade” by Laurence Stephen Lowry RBA RA. Sunderland Museum & Winter Garden

Figures on a promenade appear in many works that Lowry produced towards the end of his life, when he was spending so much time staying on the sea front at the Seaburn Hotel.

Here, the sea in the background has little boats sailing on it, similar to those in pictures that Lowry had painted for his mother many years before.
