After our climb up the scaffolding in July to view the work on the roof (here), we nabbed the last 2 places on the second tour available, a behind-the-scenes tour.
Since the Belsay Awakens project began, the service wing has been closed off to visitors. Even then, you were only ever allowed to see the lower floor.
This visit took you to the unseen rooms of the upper floors.
All of the doors on the first floor to the service wing are kept locked. We were taken through one of them today ……..
