13th July 2022 Royal Quays – Seven Seas Voyager & Bird Life

The Seven Seas Voyager entered the Tyne yesterday and docked at Northumbria Quay, so we decided to walk to Royal Quays marina to take a look.

Nothing particularly special about the ship, but it looked good in the sunshine against the blue sky.

There were a couple of moorhen chicks on the cascade. Glad they have survived and luckily now too big to put off all but the most bold predators.

The terns are busy nesting on the islands in the marina, and it was sad to see that the swans have had to abandon their eggs yet again. I fear they will never successfully breed. The adults were still in the marina so maybe they will try again.

A cormorant was busy fishing, but wasn’t having much luck.
