16th October 2021 North Shields – The Arrival of the Arcadia

I was meeting a friend this morning for coffee in Tynemouth, so I set off through Northumberland Park.

The ducks were happy bathing and on the other side of the pond a rat was scurrying about. Near the bandstand a herring gull was doing the stomp and enjoying the worms that took the bait.

After coffee, we waited at the Spanish Battery where the MS Arcadia was holding offshore. It was a cold wind and as there was no sign of movement, we parted ways and I walked along the banks of the Tyne. Before long the ship was entering the Tyne and I followed it along to the Fish Quay.

The ship has been laid over in Torbay for some time (we saw it earlier this year, 1 & 2) and I hope it gets some attention at the quay as it’s certainly looking worse for wear.
