After two weeks of isolation in the apartment, I was desperate to breathe some fresh air.
The sun was shining and the air decidedly crisp, so a picnic lunch at Belsay sounded like the ideal day out.
As usual, the house and castle were closed but we could enjoy the grounds, and this time the woodland walk was open, though I had to be wary of the dodgy knee.
The trees were nearly bare, and although autumn it did feel like winter. A robin even landed on the Gunnera, which is under it’s mulch for the winter.
