I’ve always wanted to visit the Isle of Skye. It wasn’t a disappointment.

We stopped briefly at the Kyle of Lochalsh, there isn’t much here but there are fine views of the loch and the Skye bridge.

I know the bridge has been divisive, but out visit would have been cancelled like the Isle of Mull if it hadn’t been there.

As we tracked along the coast, we experienced the beautiful coastline and the majestic mountains that make this island famous. Waterfalls were cascading everywhere, after the torrential rain that fell every night we were in Scotland.

Our destination was the capital of the Island, Portree. Although the capital, the population is so small that it is still only a small town, but the harbour is pretty, with it’s garishly painted houses and fine views across to the mainland.

This is the only time we got caught out by the rain. It varies from sunshine to coudy to torrential rain and back again. Very west-coast Scotland.

The journey back was equally enjoyable, with spectacular views of lochs and glens.
