Simpson’s Hotel

Simpson’s Hotel was built to offer accommodation to transient workers. It was built shortly before the First World War by Messrs Simpson, Boyd and Hunter and named after Dr. Robert Simpson of Newcastle. The local newspaper, the “Wallsend Herald and Advertiser”, admittedly then in decline, seems to have ignored the event. Simpsons Hotels were also built in Glasgow and Hebburn of 420 and 200 rooms respectively.
